Asked Questions

The process of getting dental implants takes place over the course of several weeks. First, a small titanium post will be surgically placed into your jawbone and you will be given time to heal. Once you’ve completely recovered, we will attach a connective structure called an abutment that will hold your restoration in place. Dental implants may be capped with a dental crown, bridge, or dentures. When taken care of properly, implants can last up to 15 years or longer.

Once you have had a root canal, your tooth should be cared for just as a natural tooth would be. Brush twice per day for two minutes at a time, floss daily, and rinse with a fluoridated mouthwash. Additionally, make sure you’re attending your professional cleanings regularly so our team can accurately monitor your oral health.

A dental crown is intended to fully restore your tooth and allow you to be able to return to all normal activity. The first few days following your dental crown procedure, you should avoid crunchy, hard foods as they may cause a bit of discomfort when chewing. However, your diet should not be permanently impacted by having a dental crown placed. As always, consuming foods with a high sugar content can be extremely harmful to your oral health.
